Melrose students leave for Germany

A group of 11 students and two teachers left Melrose on Friday, June 10, to take part in the second half of the German-American Partnership Program (GAPP).

Their base will be in Bühl, located in the Black Forest of Germany, where they will spend three weeks with families. They will be reacquainting themselves with their partners who visited Melrose last fall.

The GAPP exchange will last 26 days and take the students to six different countries.

Melrose High School German teacher John Linnemann and third grade teacher and City Council member, Mary Linnemann, are serving as chaperones.

Their progress can be followed on the Internet by going to the following site: www.photobucket.com. Type in the letters "GAPP" in the search box. Click on the thumbnail pictures to see them full size. There should be pictures on the site from their first overnight in Iceland as soon as they get to Bühl on Monday, June 13.

Making the trip from Melrose are (left to right, front): Josh Hollenkamp, Jesse Olmschenk, Peter Herkenhoff and Philip Wiechman; (second row): Greg Hickman, Jennifer Austing and Ashley Mayers: (back row): John Linnemann, Katie Kraker, Isaiah Peterson, Ryan Hiltner and Lisa Zylstra. Not available for picture Mary Linnemann.
